About the course:
For students who would like to develop a career as a Nail Technician

Course Content:
You will study manicure, pedicure, nail art, make-up and how to extend, maintain and repair nails.

You will learn the basic anatomy and physiology required and the supporting health and safety for your industry.

Learning Style:
All learning styles are catered for with a mixture of practical, written, observed and study methods

Equipment Requirements:
A full nail technician kit will be required as well as a uniform.

You will be required to wear suitable salon wear, which consists of a black tunic and trousers, and black salon shoes. Discounted salon clothing is available from us. If you would like a form please ask. You will also be required to purchase a make up and beauty kit, which is approximately £180.00

these must be ordered before the start of the course.

Assessment:
Assessment is by observation, written work and internally marked exams. students build a portfolio of evidence.

Progression:
You may progress onto working in Nail Bars, beauty salons, cruise ships or health clubs. Alternatively you can continue your training by gaining entry onto the Diploma in Holistic Therapies, Level 3 Beauty Therapy, Advanced Nail services, body massage or Indian Head Diploma.

Additional Information:
You will be expected to provide models for your practical assessments who will be expected to contribute to the cost of consumables.

It should be noted that a good standard of physical health is required as beauty therapy can be physically demanding. certain skin conditions may be affected by this type of work.

Requirement
Level 1 Beauty Therapy with an appropriate school/college report and professional approach. Grade C's and D's at GCSE. C in at least Science/English. You will need to be able to research for your assignments in your own time, and practise your practical skills at home. (approximately 6 hours of study per week plus practical)
