Introduction:
This NVQ provides essential skills for employment in the beauty therapy industry. In the past, students have had the opportunity to visit trade shows and specialist exhibitions.

Study Mode & Location:
This one year course will be held at Preston College, Fulwood Campus, St Vincent`s Road, Preston, PR2 8UR.

Course Content:
This course comprises the following units:

• G1 Health & Safety
• G2 Salon Reception Duties.
• BT1 Preparing for Beauty Therapy Treatments.
• BT2 Providing Basic Facial Treatments.
• BT3 Provide Basic Nail Treatments.

Assessment:
You will be assessed during practical salons and on occasions you may be asked some questions to support your practical skills and also through assignments. Some units will have compulsory written papers. Students may be asked to provide some clients for assessment purposes.

Careers & Progression Opportunities:
Successful completion of this course will enable students to progress to NVQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy and employment as a trainee beauty assistant.

You will need the following equipment/materials. (Please note: costs are approximate and will be confirmed at induction).

• Trouser Suit £35 (to be purchased from Preston College).
• Text Book: Introducing Beauty Therapy by Samantha Taylor (ISBN 0-435-45139-1) £11.
• Nail Care Equipment £32.
• Basic Facial Equipment £15.
• Log Book £2.
• Printing costs approximately £10.

How To Apply

Part-Time+ Route
You will need to complete a Further Education Application Form. These will be available from mid-May.
Many courses have limited places so please return your application form as soon as possible. Following acceptance of your application, the earliest you may enrol is mid-June.

Part-Time Only Route
You will need to have an informal interview with a Adult Admissions Adviser.
Many courses have limited places so please enquire as soon as possible. Following interview, the earliest you may enrol is mid-June.

Depending upon your circumstances, you may be able to study for FREE or at a reduced price.

Part-Time+ Course Benefits
