Beauty Therapy NVQ Level 2

Is this course for me?
This more advanced course is for those wishing to work in the
beauty industry. Training takes place in our new T'ien Beauty
Academy, where students provide treatments and care for
clients.
What will I study?
This course is equally split between theory and practice. The
qualification is made up of units, each one representing an area of
skill. To allow students to experience a truly realistic working
environment, theory days and a commercial salon day operate on a
rota, which includes some twilight sessions. Subjects include
manicure and pedicure treatments, facial treatments, salon
reception duties, promotion of additional products or services to
clients, eyelash and eyebrow treatments and hair removal using
waxing techniques. You will also attend a short training course on
the beauty industry's current treatment trends.

What can I do next?
This can lead to Beauty Therapy NVQ Level 3 or to employment as
a beauty therapist in a salon.

What are the entry requirements?
You will need to have three GCSEs grade A-C, one of which needs
to be English. You will also need to have completed a Level 1 in
Key Skills Literacy or Functional Skills in English. You will be
invited to attend an interview at the College and to complete an
assessment test. It is essential that you have an enquiring mind,
enthusiasm and motivation to work with the public. Evidence of an
excellent record of attendance, punctuality and commitment from
your school or college will also be required.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is in various ways, including assignments, practical
assessments, oral questions and written papers. Students also
produce a portfolio of evidence to support the assessment
process.
What will it cost?
If you are under 19 and a home student, in most circumstances,
you don't pay any fees. However, you will need to find this out
when you apply.
