Course Details
This one-day course is designed to provide designated premises supervisors with an understanding of their role and their responsibilities under the Licensing Act 2003 and other relevant regulation.
The BIIAB Level 2 National Certificate for Designated Premises Supervisors ("BIIAB Level 2 NCDPS") qualification also addresses the practical day-to-day issues involved in running a licensed premises.
Who should attend
Anyone in England, Wales or Northern Ireland who is a designated premises supervisor and those who may be required to take up this post in the future in any type of licensed premises where alcohol is sold.
Pre-requisites for the Level 2 NCDPS course
Candidates should have achieved the BIIAB Level 2 NCPLH, or possess equivalent knowledge prior to taking the BIIAB Level 2 NCDPS.
Course Content
The BIIAB Level 2 NCDPS covers the following topics:
- the roles and responsibilities of the designated premises supervisor
- the licensable activities carried out in licensed premises
- the requirements of legislation and best practice to support the four licensing objectives
- how to conduct a risk assessment, and how it is used to underpin the operating schedule
- the relationship between the operating schedule and management controls
Preparation
Once your booking has been confirmed you will be sent a BIIAB Level 2 NCDPS course handbook. The course handbook is written in an easy-to-follow format and contains all the information you will need to pass the examination. You should therefore ensure that you spend sufficient time reading through the course handbook before attending the course as this will greatly increase your understanding of the topics that will be covered and the chances of you passing the examination.
Course format
The course will take the form of teaching, discussions, and tests.
Assessment
One 30 minutes multiple-choice examination with 30 questions. To pass the examination, candidates must correctly answer 24 of the 30 questions.
Assessment Result
On passing the examination you will be awarded a BIIAB Level 2 National Certificate for Designated Premises Supervisors qualification. You will receive your Certificate approximately one to two weeks after you pass the examination.
If you are unsuccessful in the examination you may re-sit the examination at a cost of £35. The re-sit booking must be made within four weeks of the date of the first attempt at the examination.
