Conflict costs
Work place violence is an issue in all businesses and services where staff may face emotionally charged situations. The Health and Safety Executive's British Crime Survey 2004/5 shows 4.9% of managers, 2.9% of transport operators, 2.7% of leisure and other personal service workers face violence at work. Over 40% of these reported incidents are physical.
Training from specialists
We provide a range of conflict management and physical intervention training programmes. These are Maybo programmes, the UK's leading brand in workplace conflict. You can benefit from the reassurance provided by this credible, accredited training model in such a high risk subject. We can guide you through the possible solutions that might suit your organisation.
Course Content
Physical intervention skills may be needed in some workplaces to manage challenging behaviour safely. Maybo's physical intervention skills are based on natural movements that do not rely on strength or aggression. These non-violent skills have been legally and medically reviewed and have earned considerable credibility across different sectors.
This module based training varies from disengagement tactics to more advanced rescue techniques, escorting methods through to holding skills. Throughout the course we will examine:
- The requirement to use non-physical skills as far as possible
- The law in relation to 'reasonable force' and 'self defence'
- The value of assessing a situation before intervening
- Using physical intervention as a last resort
- Possible medical implications
- The potential legal implications of the techniques
- Disengagement techniques
- Escorting and guiding skills
- Holding skills
