Biology AS/A2 allows students to learn and understand the different aspects of biological systems from the molecular level right up to ecosystems and the interdependence of life on earth. With rapid developments in biological science, students also have the opportunity to discuss and debate a range of contentious issues.

What will I study on this course?
The course covers a wide range of topics including:
- Cardiovascular disease
- Genes and inheritance
- Biodiversity, conservation, evolution
- Ecology and ecosystems
- Infection and immunity
- Muscles and nerves.
How is this course assessed?
Both AS and A2 are assessed through examinations (70%) and coursework (30%). In AS Biology students carry out research on a chosen topic and produce a report. In A2, students carry out an individual investigation and present it in the style of a scientific paper.
