To identify biomechanical mal-alignments in the lower limb and to relate findings to common lower limb pathologies i.e. Achilles tendonitis, sprained ankle, shin splints. To teach participants to identify common foot deformities and to evaluate evidence base for treatment. Enable participants to identify when the prescription of an orthosis may be appropriate and when to refer a patient to a podiatrist. To enable participants to identify the effect of abnormal foot biomechanics on the knee and hip. Suitable for: Anyone

BIOMECHANICS OF THE LOWER LIMB

MS ALISON MIDDLEDITCH MCSP SRP MMACP

Two day workshop

This course evaluates the relationship between mal-alignment in the lower limb and dysfunction. It includes biomechanical assessment of the foot, knee and hip and the role of orthoses in the management of mal-alignment. The biornechanical demands of walk

Aims:To identify biomechanical mal-alignments in the lower limb and to relate findings to common lower limb pathologies i.e. To provide the skills to enable functional reconditioning of muscle weakness associated with abnormal biomechanics. To observe the biomechanics of walking and running. To identify and discuss leg length inequalities.
