In places like the favelas of Rio or the slums of Kiber, a traditional curriculum (even if it were available), simply doesn’t cut it.

“Education needs to work by pull- not push,” he explains, in his straightforward and inspirational Ted Talk about innovation and education in poor areas.  “…the challenges of education in a place like this are not to learn the kings and queens of Kenya or Britain. They are to stay alive, to earn a living, to not become HIV positive.”
