To provide the relevant knowledge, understanding and skills required to install, commission and maintain solar hot water systems. Candidates who successfully complete the assessment will receive a BPEC or LOGIC Certification certificate of competence in solar hot water installation. Holders of either qualification can apply to become accredited installers of government funded grant schemes such as the Low Carbon Buildings Programme, and installer members of the Solar Trade Association. Suitable for: Anyone who installs, commissions or maintains solar hot water systems, or intends to do so, as well as anyone specifying for or over-seeing the installation of solar domestic hot water systems.

About this course

The course requires candidates to have a knowledge and understanding of plumbing and heating systems and is ideally suited to existing plumbing engineers who should hold an NVQ in Plumbing at level 3 or equivalent (e.g. City & Guilds Advanced Craft) or who has suitable practical plumbing experience.

Plumbers currently practicing in industry, who do not hold an NVQ (or equivalent) but have suitable experience at this level, can also undertake this course.

Course programme

The solar domestic installation course enables installers to gain the knowledge and skills required to specify, install, commission and maintain solar domestic hot water systems.

During the two day course, candidates will undertake practical training including commissioning systems and fault-finding. It also studies theory including current legislation, system selection and design. As with all of our training at S.W.A.A.T., the training is delivered by our team of qualified and experienced tutors.

Payment options: Note: When booking the course please clearly state WHICH CERTIFICATION BODY you require to be certificated under if you successfully complete the assessment (i.e. BPEC or LOGIC). Both are recognised by the MCS microgeneration scheme. However, depending one you undertake the pricing varies slightly. If you undertake the LOGIC assessment there is a £55 registration fee. If you undertake the BPEC assessment you will require a Solar Domestic Hot Water Book obtained directly from BPEC.
