BPEC WATER REGULATIONS
Course Aim
Today more and more companies and organisations are specifying that only “Approved Contractors” should tender and undertake work. Local Authorities, Housing Associations, Health Care Trusts and many Builders and Developers are making “Approved Contractors” status a pre-requisite. Undertakings are also required to be an “Approved Contractor”.
The Home information Pack which is a legal requirement for people wishing to sell their properties, will also require plumbing certificates and of course many plumbing works now overlap into Building Regulations Work
To join a scheme an operative must be competent, have adequate insurance and be knowledgeable on the Water Supply (Water fittings) Regulations 1999.
Course Entry Requirements
Aimed at learners with little or no previous experience, as well as practicing plumbers with experience in hot and cold water systems, and anyone involved in the installation, design and specification of water systems. No practical work is involved at any stage and no qualifications in Plumbing are required. Although not essential, a good working knowledge of plumbing systems and symbols would be beneficial.

Introduction and background / legislation
The Regulations ( a detailed look at the regulations)
Materials and substances in contact with water
Requirements for water fittings
Water system design and Installation
Commissioning (flushing, testing, and sterilization)
Prevention of cross connection to unwholesome water
Backfloor prevention
Cold water services
Hot water services
WC’s, flushing devices and urinals
Sanitary appliances and water for outside use.
Training Method
3 weeks distant learning (home Study) with 1 day assessment
Course Duration
3 weeks distant learning (home Study) with 1 day assessment completed at Chase Tiling Academy
