Course Content
The programme is offered as an Apprenticeship and involves four days a week training in a construction environment and one day attendance at College. The Bricklaying qualification provides learners with the knowledge and skills needed to work in a bricklaying environment. This includes: cutting bricks using hammers, chisels or portable power tools, laying the bricks in courses (horizontal layers) spreading mortar with trowels, checking that the wall is straight and level using lines and spirit levels. Key Skills will also need to be achieved, as well as an additional qualification is the Abrasive Wheels Certificate and developing a portfolio of work.
Progression
Many Apprentices progress to the Advanced Apprenticeship, or may go on to higher level qualifications.
