Course Overview
This course is designed for those employed in the industry who have already achieved the Diploma L2 or NVQ L2 in Bricklaying (or those who have been working as a brick layer for over 5yrs) who wish to progress onto the nationally recognised advanced level 3 course, to gain advanced skills which can lead to a wide range of career or management opportunities within the trade.
Course Structure
This programme is delivered over 1 year with attendance for one day a week at Hornet Close. (Parts of Induction Week will be at Thanet College Main Site)
Topics covered will be:
- Establishing the operational area
- Progression of operations
- Organisation of resources
- Erect complex masonry structures
- Complex masonry details
Construction Skills trainees will also be required to complete Key Skills Maths and English to level 2.
Qualification Aims
Successful students will achieve the NVQ L3
Progression is then possibleto a GNVQ in the Built Environment or a National Certificate or Diploma in Building Studies, or into Full Time Employment
Assessments/Examinations
Continuous assessment throughout the course (including practical assessments and job knowledge questions).
Approximately 60% of course assessments are work-based (with evidence provided by the student & employer)
