Duration:
24 weeks

Content:
To enable learners to communicate with Deaf people in BSL on a range of topics that involve simple, everyday language use.
It provides an introduction to BSL and is suitable for all learners.
Objectives:
By the end of the course learners should be able to:
- Understand and use a limited range of simple words and sentences in BSL
- Take part in simple, predictable conversations in BSL
- Give and follow simple directions or instructions in BSL
- Give and follow simple, familiar statements or descriptions in BSL
Assessment:
There are three assessments:
- In each assessment the teacher will conduct a 4-5 minute conversation with the candidate.
- Each conversation / assessment will allow candidates to show both productive and receptive skills learned.
- All assessments will be recorded on DVD
Any resits will have to be paid for by the student.
