We hear it in the form of music or supporting in-depth analysis of current affairs, eclectic documentaries, live international events, and literary works in the form of sound-designed drama. The broadcast industry recently predicted a 'critical shortfall' in professionals with specialist sound skills. Understanding new technologies is now also vital in addition to traditional techniques. A solid technical knowledge of audio is a requirement for sound specialists in film, radio, TV and games as well as online and mobile media. As a result, numerous opportunities exist for skilled sound professionals with a broadcast background.
