This course will assess your welding skills to the stated British standard required for a career in the welding industry. You will need to demonstrate that you can follow a weld procedure and produce welds to the given standard.

About this course

You will produce welds that demonstrate your ability to a given standard in one of the following welding processes: – MIG, TIG or MMA. The specific tests to be carried out are dependent upon the requirements of the individual welder e.g. Butt, Fillet, Lap. Position; Flat, Vertical, over-head.

Intermediate ability who wish to extend their skills in order to progress their career as a welding tradesman.

Previous welding experience essential. If unsure of ability please contact us to discuss - half day welding assessment courses are available and should result in overall cost savings.

2 Year Certificate issued when code is passed.

The Vogal Training assessor will assess you through the production of stated welds, following the welding procedure. Each weld will be visually and destructively tested, prior to a judgement being made.

PLEASE NOTE THE DURATION OF THE WELD CODERS IS APPROXIMATELY 3 HOURS BUT ADITIONAL TRAININGMAY BE REQUIRED TO GET CANDIDATES TO A SUITABLE STANDARD PRIOR TO THEM UNDERTAKING THE CODES

Test 1 - Butt Weld in Sheet
Test 2 - Fillet Weld in Sheet
Test 3 - Butt Weld in Plate (no backing, welded from one side)
Test 4 - Butt Weld in Plate (welded from both sides)
Test 5 - Butt Weld in Plate (without backing)
Test 6 - Fillet Weld in Plate
Test 7 - Butt Weld in Pipe (without backing)
Test 8 - Butt Weld in Pipe (with backing)
Test 9 - Branch Connection (fillett weld)
