BSc Computer Graphics Vision and Games

Computer vision, image processing, graphics and visualisation have become significant areas within computer science during the past ten years. Developments in academia and industry are helping generate a strong demand for specialist computer science graduates in these areas. Specific applications include games development, (medical) image understanding, movie special effects and industrial quality control. This degree scheme offers a sound grounding in the underlying technologies as well as vocational skills.

The Computer Graphics, Vision & Games degree will give you a firm foundation in the following computing skills:

• Software design
• Software engineering
• Professional issues in software engineering

The degree also emphasises specialised skills in the following areas:

• Tools to develop vision and graphics applications
• Theory and practice of computer vision and graphics
• Introduction to games design and programming
• Related techniques: Artificial Intelligence and Mobile Computing

Final year projects

• Dynamic and Procedural gaming technologies, Virtual environments, Emotional behaviours of bots
• Computer vision for robotics
• Diagnosing cancer in mammograms

It is expected that some future projects will be in close collaboration with the newly established Centre of Excellence for Visualisation.
