You will have the opportunity to arrange a year-long work placement in between your second and third years. This gives you a real-world experience to prepare you for your future career. Placements are usually at a major construction firm or consultancy. The placement year can contribute towards your professional experience requirement for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors' Assessment of Professional Competence and the Chartered Institute of Building's Professional Review.Previous students have spent their placement working as a site managers for national construction firms, assistant project managers for national firms, an HR and recruitment consultant, health and safety manager, a design manager and as a consultant engineer.

About this course

There are also opportunities to work abroad. Recently students have taken placements with companies in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

This must include at least 64 points from two A levels, or equivalent BTEC National qualifications. For example:•BCC at A Level.•DMM in BTEC Extended Diploma.•A combination of qualifications, which may include AS Levels, EPQ and general studies.
