This course meets the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Standards of Education and Training and ensures you qualify for their Standards of Proficiency for Radiography.

About this course

- Learn the technique of imaging of the musculoskeletal and soft tissue systems of the body.
- Integrate theory and practice through intellectual enquiry and reflective practice.
- Enter the profession able to use and contribute to the research and evidence base for radiographic practice.Diagnostic radiographers use the latest imaging technologies and techniques to produce images of the human body to diagnose diseases.

From three A levels including at least 40 points from either Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics or BTEC National Extended Diploma in Applied Science, Health Science or Health Studies. We do not accept AS Levels or general studies.For example:ABB at A Level including relevant subject(s).DDM in BTEC Extended Diploma in a relevant subject.You must be 18 years old before beginning the course. This is a requirement under the Ionising Radiation Regulations 1999 to be able to operate x-ray equipment.

Course programme

How you learn

Diagnostic radiographers are an integral part of a multi-professional team, so you study part of the course alongside students from other health disciplines such as nurses, paramedics, social workers, physiotherapists and occupational therapists. This allows you to develop team-working skills and understand the contribution of different professionals to patient care.You will study at Collegiate Campus whilst undertaking academic modules and in a variety of service provider venues for placement modules.

Applied learning

Work placements

Learn to apply the theory on structured clinical placements. You are based in at least two imaging departments for the majority of clinical training, with experiential placements in other hospital areas to help appreciate the patients' pathway.

Placement sites include the following: Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals, NHS Foundation Trust Barnsley Hospital, NHS Foundation Trust United Lincolnshire Hospitals, NHS Trust The Rotherham, NHS Foundation Trust Sherwood Forest Hospitals, Chesterfield Royal Hospital, Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust.
