Why choose this course?
As a student studying mental health nursing you will achieve a BSc (Hons) Nursing and become registered as a Mental Health Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

You will learn how to build effective, compassionate relationships with people and their relatives and carers. You will develop an understanding of the legal context of the work of a mental health nurse and be able to identify whether and when someone may be at risk of harming themselves, or someone else.

You will learn to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, for example with psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, health visitors, social workers, police, relevant charities, local government and housing officers. Your aim will be to deliver high quality mental health care, in partnership with clients and their families and carers (co-production), underpinned by current research findings.
