Course introduction: This suite of courses ensures that you’ll have a firm grounding in the three core sciences that make up Sport and Exercise Science – Exercise Physiology, Sport Psychology, and Biomechanics. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to decide whether to specialise or to retain a broad overview of the subject. This allows you to take a holistic view of the different aspects that contribute to performance in sport and exercise and, with the very wide range of practical skills that you will have developed, be able to apply your knowledge to the benefit of the performer. Please note we are welcoming applications directly to Year 2 and Year 3 only. There is no entry to Year 1 of this course.

Course programme

The BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science suite of courses are multidisciplinary with the aim to provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to study and analyse the various aspects of sporting performance. Complete understanding of what contributes to performance means that expertise must be developed in the three core disciplines of Exercise Physiology, Sport Psychology and Biomechanics. To achieve this, this course has a strong emphasis on the practical application of theoretical knowledge. You’ll gain the independent study habits that will allow you to continue developing your knowledge and skill as a sport and exercise scientist. You will then follow a route in Sports Injuries. Additional information

Around per cent of our graduates move on to postgraduate study in subjects such as Exercise Physiology, Sport Psychology, Health Promotion, Sports Nutrition, Physiotherapy, Sports Performance and Enhancement and PE teacher training.
