Purchasing has an overwhelming impact on the bottom line of any organization. It generally accounts for over half of an organisations spend and has a direct impact on the two forces that drive the bottom line: sales and costs. In a world-class organisation therefore it is essential that Purchasing becomes a core competency of the firm, finding and developing supplers and bringing in highly valued expertise.
The course includes a thorough grounding in all the key subjects one would expect in a Logistics or Operations Management degree. In addition specialist modules cover the strategic, operation and practical techniques used to select, develop, contractually engage and monitor suppliers. The application of technology, management of supply risk, methods of costing and accquisition, importance of corporate social responsibility and many more important topics are studied within the context of maximising supply chain functionality, performance and ultimately value.
