Who is the programme for? Those who wish to advance their language skills beyond NVQ Level 3: 1) wish to progress to more advanced study and/or employment in the future 2) wish to become an Interpreter/JTI/MRSLI

What will I study? The course consists of two units Productive and Receptive, both must be passed for the full qualification. By the end of the course the student will be able to: Present/Understand information informally Exchange information and advice to solve problems Manage/follow uncomplicated negotiations Understand main points and details of new items, documentaries and interviews Use/understand NVQ4 vocabulary Use/understand complex grammatical structure BSNL4 - Understand Complex Language in a Wide Range of Work Ccontexts Skills for understanding complex presentations in work and social contexts, including discussions, negotiations and debates, and handling a wide range of social interactions in different settings. BSNS4 - Sign Using Complex Language in a Wide Range of Work Contexts Skills for using complex language by giving presentations and taking part in discussions, negotiations and debates, and handling a wide range of social interactions in different settings.

Entry to the Programme?

How is it assessed? The course is assessed continually through video work and portfolio work along with the addition of being internally and externally assessed throughout the course.

Future prospects? Progression to BSL NVQ4 in Interpreting (BSL/English), becoming an Interpreter is possible depending upon the requirements of the student. When will the programme start? The course will start in September 2009.

How long will it take? The NVQ 4 course is one academic year with continual assessments and portfolio work involving contact with Deaf people throughout the course and also subject to Internal and External Verification.

What about the Money? The fees for this course are 799 plus 99 (ABF) = 794. Fee remission may be available.

How do I apply? Complete an application form and return it to Student Services, you will then be asked to attend College for an interview. Enrol at any of our enrolment days.
