BTEC Diploma level 1 in Art and Design

:ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

• Age at entry 16+
• 3 GCSEs at Grade E or above

It is desirable that you have studied art prior to this course. Entry to the course requires a good general education and is dependent on a successful interview.

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
Students who are ready to undertake a Full Time Art Qualification.

This is a very practical course and students learn how to produce a range of work through a variety of assignments and tasks. The most important thing you need is a lively and enquiring mind, an interest in art, craft and design, a willingness to explore new ideas and an ability to communicate your ideas. There are very few areas of modern living that do not involve the role of an artist or designer.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?
You will have an introduction to Art, Design, Textiles and 3D Work. You will also study 3 functional skills (Maths, English and Information Communication Technology) and a Personal Social Development qualification to help to equip you with the skills you will need for further study or the workplace.

HOW WILL I LEARN?
You will learn through demonstrations, workshops and project work. We will make regular visits to the Quay Arts Centre to look at current artist's work.

WHAT CAN THIS COURSE LEAD TO?
Edexcel BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design - this is a natural progression for students. Students will be expected to pass all units and elements in order to progress.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

All art and design courses are taught by specialist staff in specialist art studios.

The course is made up of 10 units in total, including a final major project.

Material Fees

There is a fee of £212 for the materials and trip for the year. This is subject to change due to costs of materials and travel fees.
