The course aims to equip learners with the skills and qualifications to progress onto a Level 1 programme or to improve their chances of obtaining paid employment. This is a one year course where learners will develop skills in joinery and home improvement and how to work safely when using a variety of tools and equipment.
Alongside your course you will study English and/or maths to improve your skills in these vital subjects by attending structured classes, as well as having your English and maths assessed in all of your work throughout your course. Learners will study a core of functional skills and mandatory generic units as well as vocationally specific units. Lessons are delivered to meet the needs of individual learners after a period of initial assessment and learners take part in practical sessions that relate to their chosen vocational areas.
