BTEC Extended Diploma in Art and Design Equivalent to 3 A-levels
A place on the BTEC Extended Diploma in Art and Design would give you the opportunity to work in a department graded by Ofsted as 'outstanding'.
What will I be studying on the course?

You will study :
· Painting
· Sculpture
· Printmaking including etching monoprint
· Mixed media
· Photography
· Graphic design
· Drawing and mark making
· Life drawing
What sort of things will I be doing on the course?
· Drawing workshops in which you will explore the importance of mark making, line selection and tone.
· Trips to galleries and artist studios to help enrich your research.
· Opportunities to take part in public exhibitions. Recent gallery trips for BTEC Art students have included Norwich, London and Amsterdam.
· 3D including carving, casting and construction.
· Photography and graphics including digital and darkroom workshops using photoshop and illustrator to set briefs.
· Community Art projects. Previous projects have included a mural for Victory Swimming Pool and The Hippo Trail.

How will I be assessed on this course?
Your course tutors will assess you through a range of written and practical projects as well as oral presentations. There are no written examinations on this course.

Emily Linnell joined the course from Broadland High School. She has really enjoyed the BTEC course and has benefited from workshops in a wide variety of techniques. Her portfolio was strong enough for her to be accepted onto a degree course at the prestigious London College of Fashion in September 2009. She hopes to be a footwear designer.
"I changed from A-levels to BTEC because I wanted to concentrate fully on Art. I am so glad I did, you get to know the tutors and students really well. The course has helped me put together a good portfolio and I have been accepted into The London College of Fashion. The course is a challenge but you certainly learn a lot." Emily Linnell
Michael Lester joined the BTEC course from North Walsham High School. He has taken full advantage of the opportunities to exhibit his work publicly. Michael has taken part in the Alby Sculpture Trail, Sheringham Little Theatre exhibitions and a number of exhibitions in venues in North Walsham. He is now going to take a gap year before taking his place In September 2010 at Westminster University to study Illustration.
