Introduction:
The Edexcel Level 2 First Certificate offers a bite0-sized opportunity for learners to experience a science based vocational qualification. The BTEC First Certificate offers a focused vocational qualification for learners who wish to follow a shorter programme of study related to an aspect of employment that they might wish to move into; or a taster qualification which can extend their programme of study and provide an initial experience of a vocational area.

Study Mode & Location:
This one year part-time course lasts for 6 hours per week and will be held at Preston College, Fulwood Campus, St. Vincent's Road, Preston, PR2 8UR.

Course Content:
You will study the following subjects:

  • Chemistry Applications
  • Physical Science Applications
  • Biological Systems


Assessment:
All units are assessed internally by a series of college set assignments during the course. Each unit will result in a Pass, Merit or Distinction grade.

Careers & Progression Opportunities:
Satisfactory completion of this course can provide progression to a higher level qualification in Science, e.g. BTEC National Certificate in Applied Science. It can also enhance employment opportunities in the science sector.
