What will I study?
Students will study a range of Art and Design skills including, Painting, Print Making, Drawing, Fashion Design, 3D Design and Computer based Art & Design.

How can I progress?
A BTEC First Diploma prepares students for employment and provides a good grounding to go on to a more advanced course such as a BTEC National Diploma or Certificate in: *3D Design, *Design, *Design Crafts, *Fashion and Clothing *Fine Art, *Graphic Design, *Multimedia, *Photography, *Textiles.

What will I need to qualify for this course?
Students will normally need to have at least one of the following: *A standard of literacy and numeracy supported by a general education equivalent to 4 GCSEs at grades D-G, *Related work experience (mature applicants), *A BTEC Foundation Certificate in a related subject, *Other related level 1 or 2 qualifications.

Course Structure
The course is made up of six units four mandatory core units and two specialist units. The specialist units enable you to study particular areas in more depth. In order to gain a full BTEC First Diploma in Art & Design these units will be studied: Four Core Units: *2D and 3D Communication, *Vocational Context, *Explore and Develop Ideas, *Produce an Outcome. Students also take two specialist units from the following list: *Working to Graphic Design Briefs, *Working to Photography Briefs, *Working to Fashion Design Briefs, *Working to Textile Briefs, *Working to 3D Design Briefs, *Working to Multimedia Briefs, *Working to a Visual Arts brief, *Working to 3D Design Crafts.
