BTEC First Diploma in Business.(2010/2011)
Study Method:
The BTEC First Diploma is a practical work related course. Students learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations activities and demands.
Duration :One year - full time course.
Who the Course is For:
The course is equivalent to four GCSEs grades A* - C.
Assessment:
All units are internally assessed and graded by teachers. An overall grade for the qualification is awarded to all learners who successfully complete all units. Grades awarded are Pass, Merit or Distinction.
Course Leads To:
With further training or study learners may progress into Business related careers such as accounting, administration, customer service, finance, IT, personnel or sales.
Entry Requirements:
Applicants should have a least one of the following:
- A BTEC Introductory Diploma in a related subject
- A standard of literacy and numeracy supported by a general education
equivalent of 4 GCSEs at grades D-G
- Related work experience
- Other related level 1 or 2 qualifications
Content:
This course gives learners' the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills about the world at work. From investigating different types of business, ownership through to how finances are managed. Learners' will develop their employability skills by carrying out a range of practical activities.
All students take the three core units:
- Exploring Business Purposes
- Developing Customer Relations
- Investigating Financial Control

- People in Organisations
- Providing Business and Administrative Support
- Personal Selling
