About this course

You are expected to have GCSEs at Grade D to G with suitable levels of literacy and numeracy or a three or six unit GNVQ in Foundation Business passed with merits or work experience in Business or in a service industry. You will need to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment before starting your course. If necessary, you will be given the opportunity to improve your skills before starting your course.

Course Content:
The course includes the following mandatory units. Investigating how business works; How businesses develop; Business Finance. Plus 3 optional units as follows. Individual's organisation; Administrative systems; Customer service.

Other Information:
This course will give you an introduction to business and will provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills you need for employment in business or for further study in this area. If you are under 19 you will also be on a Curriculum 2000 programme which means you will have regular tutorials, key skills in Communication, Information Technology and Numeracy and an enrichment programme including visits and outings appropriate to your course.

Progression:
Successful students have gone on to study BTEC National Diploma in Business or other related vocational courses. Others have gone on to study Accounts or Administration.
