Course Content: This course covers a wide range of career opportunities including teaching nursery manager, nursery nurse, social services and sociology. Working in Childcare provides a wealth of employment opportunities and is one of the largest employment sectors in the country. This course will give you the skills and knowledge to kick-start your career. You will put what you've learned in the classroom into practice during work placements.
Whilst you are studying on the course you will learn how to promote a Childs development, how to keep children safe and to maintaining safe environments. You will also learn how to communicate effectively with children and their families and how to develop play.
Special Features: During this course you will develop a range of skills and knowledge that employers value through 300 hours work experience in different Early Years settings.
Course Format: You will attend full time and undertake practical work placements in 2 Early Years settings as part of the course.
Your work will be reviewed on a regular basis through group work and discussions with your tutor.
The course involves group discussions; project and assignment work and you will be working closely with other students and the tutor to complete these activities.
You will be assessed throughout course using a variety of techniques.
Progression: Most students progress on to the BTEC National Diploma in Childrens Care, Learning and Development having gained 84 points on the BTEC First (subject to interview/reference) or progress into employment as a nursery assistant in a Private Day Nursery or School.
