Content
The course provides a foundation for those students wishing to investigate work within the construction industry. The course is split into six units which cover a broad range of activities within the Construction Industry. Half of the course is based in the classroom and covers subjects such as Health and Safety, the nature of building projects and the basic science and mathematics to support a career within the Construction Industry. Additional units in brickwork, carpentry and painting and decorating provide an insight into the practical aspects of the construction industry. Key Skills will form part of your final qualifications.
Additional Costs
There is an administration and enrichment fee of £30. You will also need to purchase some basic PPE for practical work which will consist of safety boots, high visibility jacket and hard hat.
Assessment
The main course has no exam. Each unit has a number of assignments that must be completed, which are graded at pass, merit or distinction. The overall grades from each unit are combined to give you a final grade for the qualification.
Progression This course will prepare you for further study such as the BTEC National Award, entry into employment within the construction industry or as an apprentice.
