Do you want a career that has a direct impact on the quality of people's lives? You will look at what affects people's health and well being, and how the health and care services meet their needs. This course enables students to reach a standard equivalent to 4 GCSEs through coursework based assessment. There are no exams. There are 2 core units which everyone studies (Communication and individual rights within the Health and Social Care Sectors and individual needs within the Health and Social Care setting) plus 4 other specialist units. There are also 60 hours of work experience as part of one unit.

Qualification explained
BTECs are practical, work-related courses. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. As well as learning about the employment area you have chosen, you develop the skills you need to start a career. The BTEC National Diploma is equivalent to three A Levels which means when you have finished the course you can choose whether to get a job straight away or go into Higher Education first. A BTEC National Award is equivalent to one A Level so it can be combined with other subjects. A BTEC First Diploma introduces you to the employment area you have chosen and provides a good basis to go on to a more advanced work-related qualification. A BTEC First Diploma is equivalent to four GCSEs grades A* to C and is normally taken at college as a full-time course.
