WHAT WILL I LEARN?
The course is made up of six units ? three mandatory core units and three specialist units. The specialist units enable you to study particular areas in more depth.
HOW WILL I LEARN?
All students take six units which include Three compulsory units
A BTEC First Diploma prepares you for employment and provides a good grounding to go on to a more advanced course such as:
Work Experience
Participate in corporate hospitality work experience with tutors at events such as:

You will normally need to have a least one of the following:
- A BTEC Foundation Certificate in a related subject
- A standard of literacy and numeracy supported by a general education equivalent to 4 GCSE?S at grade D or above
- Related work experience
- Other related level 1 or 2 qualification

- Safety in Hospitality
- Developing Employability Skills for Hospitality and Related Industries
- Basic Culinary Skills
- Serving Food and Drink
A BTEC First Diploma prepares you for employment and provides a good grounding to go on to a more advanced course such as:
- BTEC National Diploma or Certificate in Hospitality Supervision
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma or Certificate in International Cuisine
- BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Hospitality Small Business Operations
- Or a Modern Apprenticeship in the workplace with day release at College
Work Experience
Participate in corporate hospitality work experience with tutors at events such as:
- Various Isle of Wight events such as Ryde Theatre and private wedding receptions
- Mainland outside catering events
- Functions in the College Restaurant
- Outside catering events around the Island.
