This course is designed for students who are keen to learn how media industries operate and to work on a range of practical and knowledge-based media projects. You will study professional film and video, radio and photography and learn how to make and evaluate your own products in these media disciplines.

Course Units Core Units:

· Introduction to Media Industries
· Research for Media Production
· Introduction to Media Audiences and Products

Specialist Units:

· Video Production
· Audio Production
· Photography Techniques
· Media Production Project

There will be an opportunity to re-sit GCSE Mathematics or English (for those who have achieved a grade D at GCSE).

Assessment You are assessed by a combination of internal and external assessments. Most of the assessments are practical assignments, produced throughout the course combined with evaluations explaining your own work.

Further Opportunities Progression (with a merit profile) on to BTEC National Diplomas in Media Production, Photography, Interactive Media (with Games Design) or to other Advanced Level courses.

Entry Requirements
You will need to have at least a minimum of 2 GCSEs at grade D or above, including English Language. Mature students without formal qualifications who show commitment to the subject area may join the course following a successful interview. Students applying to this specialist vocational course must bring to the interview some evidence of their commitment to media work. This could be any piece of written or media production work, a certificate, programme, review, work experience report or any other document that shows you have a talent for creative work, digital recording and editing, performance or presentation skills, team work, initiative, organisation, journalism, marketing or any other skill that you have that may be relevant to the course.
