BTEC First Diploma Sport (Edexcel)
This course aims to develop knowledge and understanding of the Sports and Leisure industry and the career within it. A strong interest in sport, sport science and the business of the sports industry is essential and will determine success on the course.
BTEC First Diploma in Sport will provide a route into other Level 3 courses. It can also lead to careers relating to Sports Coaching, Sports Massage Therapy, Fitness Instructor, Nutritionist and Physiotherapy. It will also give you a good foundation in understanding many of the contemporary issues that relate to sport in the world.
As well as learning about the employment area you have chosen, you will develop the skills you need to start a career in the Industry.

What will I be doing?
The course is made up of six units looking at a wide range of aspects of the sports and Leisure industry. Industry Units include:

• The body in Sport
• Health Safety and injury
• Instructing Exercise and Fitness
• Practical Sport
• Preparation for Sport
• Sport and Leisure Facility Operations

How will I be assessed?
The course is assessed by continuous portfolio work assignments. Assignments are graded Pass, Merit or Distinction.

What can I do after completing this course?
Progression on to A BTEC National course in relevant area or employment within the sports and fitness industry.
