BTEC First Diploma Travel & Tourism (Level 2)


Course content:
The Diploma is made up of a number of units some practical based and others classroom based. To gain a First Diploma in Travel and Tourism a student must complete

THREE Core Units and

THREE Specialist Units.


Core units
:
· The UK Travel & Tourism Industry
· Exploring Customer Service in Travel & Tourism
· UK Travel and Tourism Destinations

Specialist Units
· European Holiday Destinations
· Exploring Marketing in Travel & Tourism
· Business Skills for Travel & Tourism
· Developing Employability Skills for Travel & Tourism
· Planning Visits for Travel & Tourism

NB: Circumstances may cause the non availability of some Specialist Units.

Course structure:
This is a one year full time course. Students will be required to spend at least 360 hours on taught or directed study over the year. Students will also follow courses in the three Key Skills of Communication, Application of Number and IT.
This course could include activities that may take place outside the conventional lecture time. These activities are a compulsory part of the course.

Assessment procedure:
Assessment is by a combination of submitted assignments and practical tasks that are internally assessed and then externally verified.

First Diploma in Travel and Tourism (Level 2)

Progression opportunities:
The First Diploma in Travel and Tourism is aimed at individuals who may be considering a career within or associated with the Travel and Tourism industry.
It may also be used as an entry qualification for the BTEC National in Travel and Tourism.
