There are three stages on a foundation course; exploratory, pathways and confirmatory.

The purpose of this stage is to provide you with an exciting and broad ranging experience of art and design subjects in order that you can decide on a specialist study area that suits you best.
The pathways stage is where you specialise in their area of interest and develop your skills in this area. You also research further the progression courses available and put together the strongest possible portfolio for this course.
The confirmatory stage allows you 9 weeks to respond to a brief set by yourself. This encourages individuality and independent study skills as well as allowing you the chance to further investigate an area of specialist interest. It is the aim at this stage that you are ready for degree level work.
