On successful completion of our HNC in Construction, you can progress onto this top up HND. With further training developing your skills in design principles and application, you will spend time learning about management principles and application, construction and maintenance of buildings, the technology of complex buildings and the environmental impact on construction. Gaining additional skills in contractual procedures and procurement for construction and the built environment will enable you to confidently enter industry.

Entry Requirements
A HNC in Construction (125 credits). An interview will be necessary prior to admission on to the course.

Please note that the course will only run if a minimum number of students enrol.



Composition of the Course
Mandatory Units:
These are completed on our HNC Construction course.
Optional Units:
Law and Contract for Construction and the Built Environment
Project Management for Construction and the Built Environment
Site Surveying Procedures for Construction and the Built Environment
Work-based Learning and Assessment in Construction and the Built Environment
Project Design, Implementation and Evaluation
Research Project

The programme is delivered by lecturers who have many years’ teaching and industry experience.

Assessment is by a range of methods including assignments, projects, case studies and practical exercises.

If you already have a 10 Unit HNC, you can complete the HND in one year. Alternatively, if you have an 8 Unit HNC the HND it will take two years. Attendance will be one full day a week (taught sessions from 8.45am-6.00pm).

The programme takes place at the Town Centre campus.



Award Received
Upon successful completion of the course you will receive a Higher National Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment.

Progression
A Higher National Diploma is an Access qualification to senior positions in most disciplines within the construction industry. You can progress onto the final year of a degree programme at Liverpool John Moores University.

Course Fees
The fees for 2016 are £3,900 (6 unit HND top-up, conversion from 10 unit HNC) plus BTEC registration fee £173.

Fees are due at enrolment each year and can be paid either through a Student Loan or by your personal funds (an instalment plan is available if you are paying yourself). Once you have enrolled you are liable for the full year's fee, regardless of whether the full year is completed or not.

There will also be costs for photocopying and printing.



Quality Assurance (QA)
QA systems are embedded throughout the College and the College is regulated by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE). The College is also routinely inspected by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA).
