4 GCSEs grade E or above.
In addition to these essential requirements you need to be able to demonstrate a good attendance record, evidence of recent academic study, good interpersonal skills, the ability to work with others, a commitment to or an interest in a career in health & social care and a positive attitude.
Preparation for interview
You will be required to bring with you to interview the following documents. This is so we can support and guide you with your application.
A copy of your latest school/college report/attendance data and predicted grades
Copies of qualifications you have already achieved

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
Students who wish to gain a basic introduction to the world of Health Care, Social Care and Early Years. Students who wish to improve their qualifications in order to be able to progress to Level 2 BTEC First Diploma in Health and Social Care.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
You will explore a wide variety of job opportunities within the Health & Social Sector:
4 units need to be undertaken to gain the Introductory Certificate and 8 units to gain the Introductory Diploma
The course will be varied with an opportunity to visit establishments, participate with guest speakers, work on a variety of Health and Social care units via E Learning, and assignments. There are no examinations.
WHAT CAN THIS COURSE LEAD TO?
This is a practical course giving you all the opportunities to develop your potential and help you choose your career for the future and to progress to a Level 2 course.

- An interview which involves a presentation by staff, individual and group activities and a 1:1 interview with a member of the health & social care team.
- Two appropriate references, a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check and appropriate work experience
