You will normally need to have at least one of the following:
  • An Entry Certificate in Skills for Working Life or Life Skills or other Entry level qualifications
  • An appropriate standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Related interests and experiences
  • 3 GCSE at E or above

This course is designed to encourage you to develop the personal skills and qualities you need for work. The Diploma is intended as a hands on programme. It will give you the chance to explore the opportunities to acquire appropriate vocational skills.

HOW WILL I LEARN?
You will be required to complete assignment work, but also demonstrate that you are flexible to cope with being involved in tourism both on and off the island.

WHAT CAN THIS COURSE LEAD TO?
If you wanted to continue with your studies you could:
  • Take another qualification at Level 1 in an alternative sector e.g. Another BTEC Introductory or an NVQ
  • Take a qualification at Level 2 in the same or an alternative sector e.g. A BTEC First Diploma or NVQ
This course can also provide a stepping stone into employment in the hospitality, travel and tourism industry where some previous experience is necessary to gain initial employment.
