Course Content
On this course you will study the First Diploma for ICT Practitioners plus key skills in application of number and communication (at an appropriate level). Units include:
Introduction to Computer Systems . Particular focus is made on PCs and successful learners will be able to explain the use of the more commonly available hardware components that they contain. At the end of the unit, successful learners will be able to make informed choices when selecting a personal computer (PC) for a particular set of tasks or for a particular user.
Web Development . The unit is designed to give a firm grounding in the concepts of web design which will help learners to progress to employment or to another educational course and to become a valued employee with key skills in their chosen employment.
Networking Essentials . This unit deals with the application of networks in organisations. Learners will be introduced to the subject through an understanding of the way in which networks enhance the activities carried out in organisations.
Installing Hardware Components . This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to replace, upgrade or install computer hardware components. These tasks should be approached in a systematic and professional manner.
Software Installation and Upgrade . On completion of this unit learners should be able to complete a software installation or upgrade, including preparing for the installation, actually installing the software and completing the required tasks following the installation.
