Course programme
Course description: As part of this course you will learn how to develop ideas and concepts and bring them to life. It explores ways of ensuring excellent customer service, as well as teamwork and management in the industry.
You will also take a more in-depth look at some important business and financial practices, such as planning, financial control and marketing.
The Diploma will expand your knowledge and develop the practical, personal and communication skills you will need for a successful career in hospitality. You will get experience of realistic working environments and of team working with your fellow students.
This will provide you with a combination of learning and experience that will be welcomed by universities, colleges and employers, no matter which career you choose. During the course, you will also be able to do at least ten days work experience, which is a great way to apply what you have learnt in a working environment.
Entry requirements: Applicants should have five GCSEs at grades A*-C or an equivalent level 2 qualification.
Academic progression: As you progress through the course, you will be able to make a more informed decision about the next steps available to you. These include studying for a degree or foundation degree at university or college either in this or another sector, moving onto an advanced apprenticeship with an employer, or employment with another type of training.
Here at City College we offer the Foundation Degree in Hospitality Management, which can be topped up to a full BA (Hons) in Hospitality, Tourism and Leisure Management degree.
Career progression: The Advanced Diploma does not mean that you have to go into a career in this sector – it leaves your options open. Throughout the course you will have contact with employers and find out the huge range of job roles available.
