The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma is an advanced level course. Achievement at Distinction attracts 180-credits (360 UCAS points - equivalent to 3 A levels).
WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
There is potential for the qualification to prepare learners for university or appropriate direct employment in the vocational sector.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
A BTEC National Diploma is a practical, work-related course. Students learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. Students focus on a particular subject area and develop a range of specialist skills and knowledge. The Diploma provides a broad foundation of Business Education and Business activity. In addition to this each year you will also study for a Functional Skills qualification in either Information Communication Technology (ICT), Literacy or Numeracy.
A BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma is taken Full-time and is suitable for students 16 years or above.

Work Experience:
This course includes mandatory work experience, organised by you with the help of your tutor in a business environment that interests you (subject to availability). Relevant industry visits are also an integral requirement of this course.
HOW WILL I LEARN?
All units are internally assessed and graded by teachers. An overall grade for the qualification is awarded to all learners who successfully complete all units. Grades awarded are Pass, Merit or Distinction.
Where can this course lead to?
BTEC National Diplomas are valued by employers and lead to career opportunities in business specialisms such as Finance and Accountancy, Human Resources, Management or Marketing, as well as other Business related careers. Learners may also progress within employment to professional qualifications such as those offered by the Chartered Institutes of Marketing, Management Accountants and Personnel Development. Some learners may wish to gain the qualification in order to enter a specialist area of employment or to progress to a higher education foundation degree, HND (HND in Business is also offered at the Isle of Wight College) or other professional development programme.

A full BTEC First Diploma in a related subject with a Distinction
profile and level 2 Literacy and Numeracy if GCSE English & Maths
grade is below C (and subject to successful completion of entry
