About this course
The Art Foundation is the preferred course for those hoping to attend University. It will give you a strong basis in techniques and comprehension of fine art. You will leave with a developed sense of your own artistic style and an excellent portfolio which will get you into the University of your choice.
Art Foundation is traditionally taken in the year after school and before University. It is also an excellent course to take for those hoping for a career change and wishing to get into the creative industries and/or visual arts.
We have no specific entry requirements but will need to see some examples of your work and usually invite potential students to an informal interview.
For non-EU students: If you need a CAS number you would have to pay £400 plus at least half of the full fees.
Also we would need a photocopy of your passport any school/university certificates, art/design/photo certificates, IELTS or any English language certificate from approved providers (check the UKVI list online) and samples of your art/design/photo work.
Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma is an internationally recognised qualification. We are accredited by Pearson.
You will work in much smaller class sizes than in most other institutions, so you will get a lot of individual attention from your tutors. Blake has a uniquely friendly and relaxed atmosphere that helps students from all backgrounds to work together and consistently gets the best out of people. All of our teachers are practising professionals so you will get the most accurate and up to date information about their artistic practice.
Our Art Foundation students tend to get excellent results and we offer bespoke help and advice to ensure that they are able to progress to the University of their choice, including major London Universities such as Central St Martins, Goldsmiths and the Slade.
We will contact you to discuss your interest further. We usually ask to see some examples of your art and design work and will need a personal statement from you. You may be asked to interview (this can be over the internet). After this you will be given the opportunity to enrol and will need to pay a deposit. International students will also be asked to pay part of their fees up front and will be issued with a CAS.
