Mature people wishing to move from craft to technicians studies often use this course as a 'stepping stone' to progress to BTEC National Certificate, or HNC in Construction. For this qualification you will need to pass the 4 core units and 2.

About this course
Students are required to have appropriate qualifications to enter this course, i.e. school leavers should have 4-5 GCSEs:all grade C or above or pass an approppriate BTEC First Certificate or Diploma in Construction.
Entry for mature students is at the discretion of the college, subject to knowledge and Industrial Experience.

Mature people wishing to move from craft to technicians studies often use this course as a 'stepping stone' to progress to BTEC National Certificate, or HNC in Construction. For this qualification you will need to pass the 4 core units and 2 specialist units.
The completion time for the course is one year part time (1 day a week)or 1 1/3 year on evenings only basis

EDEXCEL Level 3 BTEC Units :·Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction and the Built Environment·Construction and the Environment·Science and Materials in Construction and the Built Environment·Construction Technology and Design in Construction and Civil Engineering·Mathematics in Construction and the Built Environment·Surveying in Construction and Civil Engineering.
How will I be assessed?
Course assignments are assessed throughout the year. There are no examinations.
What can I do next?
On completion of this course students could progress to BTEC National Certfificate in Construction or Civil Engineering.
Mature and experienced students could progress to HNC in construction subject to interview and industrial experience.
