BTEC National Award in Health and Social Care

Who is this course for?
This course has been designed for learners with life experience who wish to follow a shorter study programme which combines academic and vocational practice. The course is suitable for learners who are interested in a career in the Health and Social Care sector and / or wish to progress into Higher Education.

What will I learn?
The course consists of a range of modules: Equality, Diversity and Rights; Effective Communication; Health, Safety and Security in Health and Social Care; Caring for Children and Young People; Supporting and Protecting Adults; Public Health.These modules provide learners with underpinning knowledge of key areas including protection of children and adults, anti-discriminatory practice, safety and examine some of the public health issues in health and social care practice. Alongside this, you will also have the opportunity to gain a certificate in First Aid. The course also includes four Saturday workshops.

Assessment
There are no exams on this course. All units are assessed through assignments and projects which are set throughout the year.

On Completion Achievement / Progression
Successful completion of the course will allow you to progress onto higher level courses such as the HNC in Health and Social Care and offer you greater opportunity to access employment in the Health and Social Care field.
