About this course
You will need: Five GCSEs at grade C or above including English Language. You must have a good level of communication skills to complete your assignments to an appropriate standard and be able to demonstrate an interest in design and computers. You must be very motivated and organised with good time management skills, because: you will need to be interested in design and creative media. you will need to like watching TV, DVD's, videos and reading newspapers, magazines etc. design skills will help you with layout, which will be done both by hand and using ICT. you will have to work hard consistently throughout the two years of the course to complete all the assignments to the agreed deadlines.

What does the course consist of?
The BTEC National Certificate in Media Production consists of 2 core units, 1 mandatory units and 3 additional units:
Core units:
- Research techniques
- Pre-production techniques
Mandatory units:
- Understanding the interactive media industry
Additional units:
- Digital Imaging
- Web Animation
- Stop Motion Animation
What else do I need to know?
Media Production is based in a purpose-built Apple Mac room. A range of industry standard software is available including Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, Final Cut Pro and After Effects. You will need a good level of communication skills to complete your assignments to an appropriate standard.
A BTEC National Certificate in Media Production can be used to go on to Media courses in higher education. It can lead to careers in television, radio and film production, the music industry, journalism, multimedia and electronic media production, interactive games development, the advertising and marketing industry and the printing industry.
