Course programme

The course is equivalent to two A levels* and perfect if you are looking for an alternative to AS or A2 study.

The advantage of joining Ravensbourne at this stage is studying in a university-level environment that offers second-to-none specialist facilities.

On successful completion, you will have a number of internal progression opportunities:

  • Continuing with Ravensbourne and studying the Diploma in Foundation Studies
    – guaranteed entry if recommended by the Subject Leader for Further Education.
  • Continuing with Ravensbourne and studying the Level 0 in Design and Communication, subject to successful admissions procedures.
  • Continuing with Ravensbourne and studying a Foundation Degree Arts (FdA) or Science (FdSc), subject to successful admissions procedures.

* Subject to final grades, this course is the equivalent to two A levels.

Stage 1

This contains compulsory units cover drawing, visual communication, and using digital design IT packages.

Stage 2

Introduces you to specialist areas within the design and communication fields, including:

  • Fashion and textiles
  • 3D design
  • Graphic design
  • Animation, video, photography and motion graphic design
  • Broadcasting disciplines.

The course ends with a final major study that can be based on one of any of the areas covered in Stages 1 and 2.
