About this course
A keen interest in Sport. At least four A*-C passes in GCSE, preferably including Maths and English, or a BTEC First Diploma in Sport.

Why study BTEC National Certificate in Sport (Performance & Excellence)?
This is a course that involves you in a variety of theoretical and practically based work. The assessment is in the form of assignments throughout. Your assignments involve realistic, workplace activities. In addition to learning about sports development and fitness, you will develop the skills you need to continue to study or pursue a career in sport. The certificate also gives you the opportunity to take another two subjects alongside this, whether they be GCSE's, AS levels or even a combination, making your course at Palmer's College more varied.

Where does the BTEC National Certificate in Sport (Performance & Excellence) take me?
The course is equivalent to two A-levels and is a recognised entry qualification for Higher Education. It has particular
value for Physical Education and Sports Studies courses. It will not allow progression to Sports Science courses.
The course is also recognised by employers and opportunities in the Health and Fitness industry, Coaching and Sports Development would be available.
