About this course
Minimum 4 GCSE at A* -C or a First Diploma at Merit in relevant subject.

This is a highly ambitious course, aimed at developing student†s skills and techniques and creativity in painting, drawing, markmaking, textiles, fashion graphics, printmaking, sculpture and contextual studies. The course is designed to help students work independently. Ambitious and thoughtful approaches to ideas are encouraged, backed up with teaching strong skills and providing a wide visual language vocabulary.
What will I be doing?
The course will start with an in depth introduction to visual language and formal elements. You will be taught a variety of drawing methods, markmaking methods and painting to build up your skills and give you the foundation to develop your creativity and ideas in your specialised area.
You will then go on to develop your skills in 3D, Fine Art Painting, Graphics â€" both traditional and computer based, textiles â€" photographic silk screening which will be fashion based and photography as well as continuing to explore markmaking and a variety of drawing techniques. In your second year you will specialize in your chosen field developing your own ideas and responses to the work. Throughout the year you will study other artists and designers to help inform your work. Throughout the year you will be taken on a number of visits to galleries and museums.
How will I be assessed?
Formal assessment takes place 6 times a year which will consist of a 1:1 tutorial feedback. Continuing assessing will take place through weekly, marked homework. Final assessment will take place in your final term after completion of your Final Major Project.
What can I do after completing this course?
Successful completion of the course is equivalent to 3 A levels. After completion of the course you may go on to a degree at University or you may go into employment in the design or Art field.
